Portrait painting: Boys on a Merry Go Round. Minnesota and South Dakota.

I really like this little painting of boys playing on a merry go round. The scene was so free and exciting; I’ve painted it many times. It was from a powwow we went to back in Washington, and there were lots of children playing on this old metal merry go round. Our son had so much fun.

This painting is now up for auction. Click here to bid.

(I’m doing auctions for one month. Stay posted.)

Yellow Roses oil painting on canvas. Minnesota and South Dakota paintings.

I’ve changed around my still life setup and had a very nice painting time last night and this morning. I love these lovely yellow roses. This colorful painting is painted on gallery wrapped canvas with unpainted sides, and is ready to hang unframed.

Portrait artist paints a pomegranate

Kiss / 5×5 inches / oil on gessoed hardboard / January Painting Marathon #10 / available at http://jessiesfineart.com

This is a pomegranate and a tangerine sitting on the windowsill. I liked how the light was coming between them except that small spot where they’re touching. I’ve been really struggling… I  wiped several paintings yesterday before I finished this one. I feel like my understanding of paint got a little more sophisticated and I’m working hard to get my skills catch up.

By this time next month we should be in our new house! I’m excited about the studio space. I’ve already got a roll of canvas and have some large landscape paintings planned. I can’t wait.

Portrait artist paints tangerines

Borrowed Shadow / 5×7 inches / oil on gessoboard / January Painting Marathon ptg #5

I forgot to sign it before taking the photo, so I watermarked it. I’ll put my R on there today.

This is the second painting in the new series I talked about. It’s called Borrowed Shadow because something in the painting was borrowed from my son. And I was busted! The cat decided to wake my son up early… Oh well.

My son asked yesterday why I’ve been painting oranges. I said “I like the color orange,” and he said “Oh! Sure.”

To purchase, email me with the name of the painting you want, and payment preference (secure PayPal invoice, check or payment plan). I will get back to you right away. Thank you for viewing my Art. Cooing / 5 x 7 inches / available on my paintings of people page /a portrait of you and your baby

This is the first painting I’ve finished in some time and I’m really excited to have finished. This is painted from a photo, and is part of my Mom Loving series. I’m saving it for my first Midwestern show in South Dakota.

I’ve painted this woman once before – Baby Carrier, in Watercolor Paintings – and she makes a beautiful model.

If you’re interested in commissions, or want to learn more about the Mom Loving series, please email me.
