Portrait & Commissioned Painting Process
Quick description: The process is fun and easy for collectors. There is as much or little communication as you would like, and you get final approval and a happiness guarantee.
Long description:
1) We Start With A Free Consultation (a Portrait Chat)
We’ll chat on the phone about your hopes for a painting. I’ll ask you a few questions, you’re welcome to ask me any questions you have, and we’ll both make sure that I am the right artist for your project.
2) Pay a Deposit
If you choose to commission a portrait, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is due before the next step. This covers some of the supplies, time, and expenses for your portrait project.
3 – option A) If getting together in person is not feasible, or if this is a memorial portrait – Send me some photos.
Thank you for considering me for this important project. You can send me some photos, and we’ll decide together which source photos will capture what you want.
3 – option B) In person source photos – I’ll come to you, and take Photos and make Sketches.
We meet, and I will paint a 2-3 hour color study and take photos to work from in the studio. For young children or people who cannot or prefer not to sit for the color study, I’ll take color notes to work from, or just work from my photos.
“….my wife loves the painting! She was pretty emotional about it :). Thank you so much for allowing me to give a wonderful lasting Christmas gift!!” -Wade (Washington)
4) Painting Begins
Once you’ve given your approval for the source photo choice, painting begins! You will receive photo updates of your painting at a few stages in the process. You are welcome to visit the studio at any point to see your portrait in person, or hop on zoom with me to see the painting remotely.
5) Final Approval
I’ll send you images of the completed painting to approve.
6) Art is Delivered to You
Your painting will be delivered or carefully packaged and shipped with tracking and insurance as soon as it is dry to the touch.
You now own an original, beautiful portrait.
I am blown away by this painting and we will treasure it forever. Thank you so very much for this. -Teah (Wisconsin)
FAQ
Question: Can I get a portrait by Christmas / by a certain date?
Answer: Contact me as soon as possible, and I’ll let you know.
Question: Will you work from my photo?
Answer: Yes.
If you are within driving distance, we can meet for a photo-shoot. It is included in my pricing, and the paintings come out better when I am able to take a photo with painting in mind. Photos that are great as photos are not necessarily great for painting from.
If you are too far away to do a photo-shoot, or if there is another reason that a photo-shoot is not feasible, I will need written permission from the person who took the photos I work from.
Question: Can I make copies of the portrait you paint for my friends?
Answer: Artists maintain the copyright of their artwork even if the physical painting is sold. No reproductions can be made without written permission from the artist.
Question: Can I share the portrait on social media?
Answer: Yes! Please tag me. @jessierasche on instagram or @Jessie Rasche Art Studio on facebook.
Love it Guarantee

I put my heart and soul into all of my paintings and hope that you will love yours. If you are not happy with your portrait painting, let me know and we can talk about whether or not you would love it after some changes. I’ll either make changes or refund the payments you have made beyond the non-refundable deposit.
I want each collector to love their painting, and will do what I can to make sure that happens!
