Moving Forward and Duck Landing are both in mid-movement, while Silent Companions is more subtle; it has an implied movement. The cow in the foreground is on the verge of deciding whether to move or drink.

Synchronized Flying, 40 x 40 in, oil on canvas, $3200

This is one of my favorite paintings from the last year. I love the abstract quality of the painting, and the movement of the palette knife marks, as well as the movement of the birds.

The show would not be complete without the movement of water. The movement is strong and obvious in the three waterfall paintings above, where the water has a dramatic journey, and slowly changes the land it travels across…

Breakfast In A Spring Thaw, 30 x 40 in, oil on canvas, $3000, learn more / purchase
The relationship between the quickly moving geese, the slowly moving cows and clouds, and the almost still grasses and trees is, I think, soothing and lovely.

Wet Toes, 11 x 14 inches, oil on panel, $600, learn more / purchase
The water above is gently moving as it’s pushed by birds or boats or swimming people – the evidence of it’s movement in the wet sand on the edge of the beach.
