New Romantic Tonalist Paintings

I love to experiment. Here’s a small series of tonalist paintings I just finished using a very limited pallet of 2 or 3 colors, and really reigning in the brush strokes. I’d  love to hear what you think of these.

Exciting Adventures

I drove over to Minneapolis on Tuesday morning, stopping off to visit my mom on the way, and then took my time driving, taking a lot of photos of the Minnesota farmland on the way.

When I was about half way there, in the middle of very rural Minnesota, I missed a turn before I realized my GPS was gone. Thank God for the kindness of strangers. My new friend Tammy stopped and had me follow her to the right turn (thank you so much!).

I got to Minneapolis later than I expected but earlier than I needed, and it ended up being a great night.

I drove home right after the reception and thank you weather man for being accurate – the snow storm didn’t start until I was almost home.

People I Met

Me with art collector Lois.

The reception at Art Resources Gallery in Edina, MN was great. I met several previous collectors, who were all delightful. Some told me about how they view art, one showed me pictures of my artwork in her beautiful home…

As an artist, I put my heart and soul into my work. When I sell through galleries, I sometimes don’t know who paintings end up with. So getting to meet these collectors and find out how they view art and how my art lives in their homes was a real treat.

I got to meet new collectors and other art enthusiast, too. What a great night. Thanks so much Art Resources Gallery and guests!

For the woman who first saw my horse painting at the South Dakota Art Museum – feel free to call or email me.

Visual Tour

Here are the main areas with my work. There are a few other paintings in nooks at the gallery. It’s a great space.

Front Window. This painting is of a tree I can see from my studio.

Career Milestones

Having a solo or featured artist show in Minneapolis was one of my career goals, and I’m very excited to have experienced that.

  1. Jessie,
Congratulations on your many successes! It never ceases to amaze me how your work keeps expanding, and I think that the romantic tonalist paintings are divine. Especially the moody one with the gorgeous clouds! I’ve always had a thing for clouds, and they seem to glow in your painting. I also love your ocean scapes and your wee painting of the lilies in the gold frame. I hope that 2019 is your most prosperous year ever!
Many good wishes for your continued success

    Ann Thompson
