To celebrate the new year, this virtual exhibition is an expression of love and hope and appreciation for our fellow creatures. Together has been curated with paintings of animals enjoying each others companionship, and just enjoying being together in the world. May you have a year full of love.
Merriment In The Last Light, Blending Together and Evening Romp are paintings of a horse ranch on the edge of town, next the nature park. I go by there often, but on this day the light was beautiful and so I pulled off the road to take photos.
.
I have painted these horses many times since then, and one of the ranch people even recognized the paintings as their horses and invited me out to meet the horses in person. That was really special! All of the horses had wonderful personalities, some playful and some reserved, most very curious.
These paintings are about the way the animals blend together, and blend with the landscape in the dusk, making the scene feel magical.
.
On this morning the sun was beginning to warm the sky. As I passed by, the cows looked towards me in their lovely and charming way, but stayed together in their warm group.
Having pelicans and seagulls around the lakes in the Midwest has been the kind of lovely surprise that never fails to amaze me. These birds are enjoying each other’s company on the edges of a lake.
.
An oasis was hiding around a bend on a rural road outside town, with gently rolling hills decorated with a winding river. These cows were bathing beauties on the water’s edge.
.
Sprint Comforts and Trees Above are based on the horses right down the road, which I have painting many times and find more charming every time I see them. I hope they reminds you of sweet interactions you have had of the equine variety. Morning Graze is of the wonderful colors of the prairie land and sky, while the cows enjoy their breakfast together.
