Happy 4th … 7th of July! And big news, soon.

Flag, 10″ x 8″, acrylic painting on canvas, sold

I love how a well made, carefully crafted American flag moves and billows in the wind. I imagine they take a fair amount of work as they are created, and another fair amount of work to care for and keep pristine. In this painting, I wanted to capture the pride of the man holding the flag and the energy of the crowd.

This was the man right behind the Brookings Community Band in the Fourth of July parade. Thank you for the inspiration!

Working Up to an Idea

I’ve been mulling over the idea for years of doing some paintings of people with flags (like the one above, and another one in the works), as well as close-up paintings of billowing flags, like what you see in the painting detail below. You might see these coming out in the next few months. What do you think?

Big News, soon

I have been talking with an institution I love about doing a really neat project. Yesterday we had a great meeting, and there is a very good chance it will come together! It’s not set in stone yet, so I have to wait before telling you about it. But I can hardly wait! Wish me luck!!
