New Pear Painting

Not yet titled (suggestions welcome!), 8×10 in, oil on canvas, not yet available.

I’m so happy with how this turned out! I’m hanging onto it so I can reflect on what I like while I’m painting tomorrow…

And here’s my little setup. I’m using construction paper for some color in the background.

On a side note, you can see that everything is on a table. I set it up that way so that it would be easy to film for my workshops. But my goal for this year is to get green and healthy, and I feel healthier standing up! So I’ll be making a setup that’s at eye level while standing and adjusting my workshop filming stuff accordingly.

Have a great day!

Weekend in Minnesota

Last weekend we ‘camped’ in a cabin. I took lots of photos of beautiful farmland for painting references. I want to paint a handful of them. Lately the things that I’ve been really drawn to for painting material are the farm equipment and roads going off into nowhere. Here is a beautiful farm house.

On a personal note, my son went fishing for the first time last weekend. He’s been wanting to do that for a couple years now.

I’m working on a watercolor painting (here’s a detail) and really working on the composition. What do you think so far? I had forgotten how much I love watercolor.

My business goal right now is to get people to sign up for my newsletter. Please sign up! You’ll get news about my latest paintings, and some great goodies too (discounts and occasional give-aways). If you have any suggestions for how to get more sign-ups, please leave a comment!

Thank you for Liking me

Migration – painting of geese migrating

SOLD / Migration / 20×24 in / oil painting on canvas / See Available Bird Paintings / Prints Available

The last couple weeks I worked intensely on Mother’s Day portraits, which I won’t publish until after Mother’s day (to keep the surprise). And now I am on vacation, and have only picked up my paint brush once… So I am posting a picture of a favorite of mine, “Migration”. When I get back to the studio, I am looking forward to working on my big painting of 10 kids playing. And then I will be painting some more birds!

Looking at the calendar this morning, I realized that my son will be 4 in less than 3 weeks (on Mother’s Day)! How did that happen so fast??? 3 was such a fun age, I’m sad to see it’s over, but I’m also excited to see what 4 is like.
