High school kids ask great questions!
A high school student from Indonesia asked me a few questions through instagram about my art and motivation, and then asked this gem:
“Thank you so much, and yes i do make art but unfortunately i’m not really good at it, but i strive to improve. Do you have any advice for me or any up and coming artist?”
Here’s my response:
“It takes time to build up any skill, and painting is no different.
“Drawing skills are the most important skills for an artist, so keep a sketchbook and pencil handy and keep practicing your observation skills.
“Take notes, focus on improving in one area at a time. And know that when you’re frustrated, you’re improving. But don’t forget to enjoy it, at least sometimes, so you stay motivated.”
